2024 CSA Week 19

It sounds like Autumn did a good job holding down the fort last week when I was off last week.  As a reminder, I will be off again 10/17-10/19 and 10/24-10/26, but Autumn will open the store on Friday morning.

As I'm sure you noticed, it has been a difficult veggie growing year for our NWPA Growers farmers.  We lost one of our main farmers last winter, but we added three new farms to our group.  I thought that we would have plenty of produce for the season, but three of our farmers had family health issues that prevented them from growing the quantities that they had planned.  That has led to limited quantities, and some much-desired veggies being almost entirely absent from the store.  I'm working on finding additional local produce in the coming weeks.  And our farmers have told me that they have big plans for next year.

4th Quarter Payments

I am sooo late running payments for 4th quarter payment plan members.  I really will be processing payments and invoices this weekend.  If you have emailed me about adjustments for the 4th quarter, feel free to remind me so I don't miss the adjustment to your account :)

This week's features

  • Hazy Hollow Farm needs to make room in their freezers for beef and lamb that is at the processor.  Their ground beef and soup bones are on sale for 10% off this week.  And their beef broth bones are on sale for $3/package instead of $9.
  • Sunset BLVD Farm has discounted some of their remaining pumpkins this week
  • Cucumbers are back from Sweetwater Farm!  They harvested them before the frost, so we have 60 available this week!
  • If you ordered beets from Underhill Produce last week, you will be glad to hear that the beets survived the neighbor's cows and are available again this week to order.

This is "A Week" for biweekly shares.

Farm News

Bushel & a Peck Farm:  We've been busy at our farm getting our seasonal store at Grove City Outlets set up and open for the season.  Philson & Friends Artisanal Wares brings together local artists and craftspeople to sell our products during the last quarter of the year.  We sell our maple products, of course, and The Way Nature Intended also participates with their body products and pet products.  We have more than 35 vendors in one store.  We opened on Thursday, so I've been a bit preoccupied with that for the past week.  If you're looking for unique gifts, stop in and see us this fall!  We're in store 925, a few stores from Eddie Bauer.

Recipes

You get to search for your own recipes this week :)  We have tons of recipes saved to our Pinterest boards, and Autumn usually posts a bunch of recipes on our CSA Members Facebook page.

Have a great week and enjoy the cool weather and the beautiful fall colors.  I think soup will be on my menu in the coming days.
